About Our Organization
NPA is a not-for-profit corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who set policy and direct the overall running of the organization.

A part-time Administrative Assistant answers emails and phone calls, maintains the membership database and sends monthly NPA emails to the members.
How does one become an officer or director of the Board?
Anyone who is a member of NPA is eligible. The NPA President and Vice President look for people who have an interest in making NPA more fun and rewarding for all. Candidates must be willing to devote the time required to attend monthly board meetings, volunteer for NPA events and participate in the annual board retreat held in October of each year. Specialized skills or experience in planning, organizing and communication as well as an enjoyment of effectively working with others are all important assets. Directors are elected by a vote of the board in September to three-year terms and are limited to three terms. Officers are chosen from among the current board members and are elected by the board in September to serve one-year terms that can be renewed as many times as the board deems fit.
What are the duties of a board member?
All board members are expected to attend the monthly board meeting the first Tuesday of each month (except August), from 7 - 9 pm at Bellevue Botanical Garden. Duties vary depending on the specific job description, but generally board members help plan events, conduct the business of the organization, set policy and participate in long range strategic planning.
Project Chairs
Project Chairs are not required to attend board meetings unless they have a specific report to give, but are always welcome. Project Chairs handle the following functions: Border Committee, Classes & Workshops, Flower & Garden Show, NPA website, Open Gardens, Perennial Post newsletter, Spring Plant Sale, March Mania Plant Sale, Scholarships, Seed Exchange and Study Weekend (every 4th year).
